So, in preparation for moving, I'm thinking about replacing my old Prosonic Power 300 speakers with something a bit smaller and more accurate. I've decided to go for correct audio over "sweet" audio, I want to hear the closest I can come to the truth, for a reasonable price. I think I want a high-quality USB-DAC and some studio monitors and I found the Scarlett 2i2 USB dac which seems to have very nice outputs and also analog microphone inputs (so I could replace my Razer in the future with a real professional mic), as far as I can understand, the Scarlett will work as a normal USB audio device, it has balanced analog outputs (TRS) which would be nice with the monitors I'm considering, which are the PreSonus Eris E5. I think this would be an affordable, rather high quality audio solution. The obvious problem with this is that those monitors are rather small and made to be placed at face-height, and more or less in front of the listener, but I have, for now, 2 huge displayes, so the monitors wouldn't fit.. Maybe I'd need to replace those screens with very high res (can you get 5120x3200 px yet) single screen, or mount the secondary screen on top of the primary, that might work as well.
