Action Quake 2 Setup
Ive made a
Config Generator to help newbies to set up their game settings.
Save the config file to your "action" directory (example: C:\quake2\action\)
The name of the config file is "autoexec.cfg"

About Action Quake 2
Action Quake 2 (Aq2) is a multiplayer modification "mod" for Quake 2,
a brilliant First Person Shooting "FPS" game from
ID Software
The original gameplay plays out on a base habituated by monsters (the result of some gone-wrong science experiment)
It is a very futuristic game, with a really fast gameplay, and its lots of fun (come on, EVERYBODY knows the quake series)
However, Aq2 is pretty different from original Quake2 (baseq2), while the gameplay is still as fast (i would say faster)
instead of running around in space, shooting monsters with rocket launchers and laser cannons, you run around on earth
(or in the original baseq2 maps) shooting other players, with handguns, shotguns, sawed of shotguns, sniper rifle,
mp5 submachinegun, m4 machinegun or simply stabbing them in the back with knives :P
Action Quake 2 can be played both as Deathmatch (everyone against everyone) or in Teamplay
where players joins two teams, chooses a weapon that they want to use playing and starts in opposite ends of the map.
Teamplay is the most popular (and most fun) gamemode, and can be VERY fast paced, fast as in 4vs4, round over in 30 seconds
if all players are highly skilled and don't camp (we don't like that in aq2)

Theres a ActionQuake 2 Server running Action Quake 2 The Next Generation on DusteD.dk
If you want to borrow it for clanmatches or whatever you can contact me for details.
ActionQuake 2 Mapping
I played around with mapping for as long as i could lay hand on the keyboard,
i started out on a 486 with Duke3D mapping (thats so easy, and i got pretty damn hardcore at it, at age 9, lol)
I also tried mapping a bit for Quake (1), and i made a few maps for Aq2 in "worldcraft" but it really sucked
or, in other words, i really sucked at it...
But then the other day, i fell over Gtk-Radiant, and WTF! it ran on linux ;) so i installed and realized that i still sucked
until i made this map, that i am about to show to you.
Aq2 Custom 1vs1 or 2vs2 map: twoface
Im not good with names, i cant even remember them, however
This map i made, mostly at work (lol) and i made it for 1on1 and 2on2, its a small compact (but not stuffed) map
with gameplay and good looks in mind.
Take a look at theese cool screenshots of twoface version 2 (version 1 sucked..)
It is in the maprotation on my server, and off cause you wanna play it ;)
So go
Download twoface for Aq2 and put it in Quake2\action\maps\
Dont worry about textures, i only used the original baseq2 (demo) textures, and the ones from most popular aq2 maps.
So go grab aq2 and start gaming!

My History as an AQ2 Player
I started playing the mod in 1997 i think, on a P100 MHz with 16Mb ram and a voodoo graphics card.
Back in those days, it gave about 30 fps, but the game ran decently.
So ive played Aq2 on and off the past 9 years, but is as such not a very skilled player, i just
love the game for its graphics, sound, movement, rules, and the Aq2 community in general (its about the
opposite of how CounterStrike players behave..)
ActionQuake 2 Today
Things change, and a lot has changed the past many years, and Win95 became WinXp and WinXp became Debian Linux
So now i run the game with wine (the "native" didn't work out for my workstation, but it works fine on my server)
Here is a bunch of Action Quake 2 Screenshots on linux
